The Strasbourg CROUS is undergoing a sensational graphic transformation!

A MONUMENTAL project for the Strasbourg CROUS is underway. We invite you to discover the first images of our graphic creations in terms of wall decorations, signage and large format markings.

The objective: to create a unique, historical, gastronomic and sensory visitor experience… while leading with greed and culture.

Bronze, dynamic colours, contemporary geometric shapes, historical decorations, gourmet frescoes, cultural signage… that’s all on the menu. And this is thanks to the open-mindedness of the client and the famous Strasbourg architectural firm (EMERGENCE) led by Alain Kittler and Arnaud Wiest. Two Architects of a remarkable and pleasant quality on a daily basis. An XXL thank you for their interventions and availability.

On the programme:

The decorations of the student hotel residence

The decoration of the kitchens in the residence

The floor signs

The decorations of the corridors of the student residence

Wall decorations in the university restaurant

Signs in the administration area

The signage concept on the front of the building (to be discovered in a future article on our blog)

The murals in the university restaurant

… and many other things to follow in the coming weeks…

To discover the architectural project, here are some pictures of the site in the heart of Strasbourg.

The Resto’ U is located in the Gallia building, built in 1885. In order to improve student safety, renovation work and compliance with standards has been carried out throughout the building.
At the Resto’ U, the work mainly involved bringing the electrical system up to standard, installing new equipment in the kitchen and embellishment work (tiling, lighting, painting).

La Gallia, a whole history
Built in 1885 by the Germans, the building was called the Germania, after the bank that financed it, until 1918. When Alsace became French again, the building was renamed the Gallia, i.e. Gaulle in Latin

Students will once again be able to live in the newly renovated university residence of the Centre régional des oeuvres universitaires (Crous) at la Gallia. The rooms are brand new, with a breathtaking view of the Boulevard de la Victoire or the southern quays of Strasbourg’s central island.

Rooms for short stays
In addition to the rooms dedicated to students, there are about twenty “short stay” rooms, at the same price except for non-students (from 16.12 to 34.34 euros per night). This time the Crous is targeting students or teacher-researchers visiting Strasbourg as part of an exchange programme. These rooms are located on the fuchsia-coloured floor, on the mezzanine.

The building has 167 rooms and 40 studios. For the rooms, the rent is 258.19 euros (for those under 12 m²) or 346 euros (for those over 12 m²). For studios with a built-in kitchen between 20 and 30 m², the rent is 450 euros and even 550 euros for those over 30 m². Housing subsidies from the Caisse d’allocation familiale can be deducted from these amounts.

Inaugurated by representatives of the City of Strasbourg, the Grand Est Region, the University, the Crous and the Afges, the rooms were still all clean, far from the ambient mess that can sometimes prevail during an exam week.

From a technical point of view: all of our decorations were designed entirely by hand and then sublimated by our vinyls, which we cut and applied ourselves.

In total: 16 weeks of implementation.

Approx: 400 m2 of decorations and murals

Soon thousands of students 😉

All our decorations are entirely hand-drawn and then handcrafted in our French mural art workshop.

Our wall marking techniques allow us to invest all surfaces = painted wall, cladding, metal panel, concrete, ceiling.
